The blueness of the stage was so atmospheric. You could see the different light beams as they came down like an explosion of colour. At points as well there was bright pink bouncing off everyone at the same time that the performers were bouncing around in a blue haze that enveloped them and it was so ambient.

It is music like I have never heard before extremely unusual but extremely charming. Their syncopated beats, focus on percussion and energy was mesmerising and I will remember it for a very long time. All I can think off is a modern Devo mixed with punk and ska? It was jumpy, percussive, unnerving, almost of out tune syncopated playing. You could not stand still even though you didn’t know how to dance to the irregular beats and bars which made everyone look like idiots bouncing around. There was a lot of energy from the band and the audience.

The percussionist was jumping around frantically hitting everything. He had his arm in a plaster cast and was having to work twice as hard, hitting things at break-neck speed with just one hand. At one point it got all too much and the trumpeter came to help but he was really giving it his all!

I remember specifically being behind a guy who could not keep his limbs still, it was like he thought he was playing all of the instruments with no sense of spatial awareness. We later saw him backstage with the mixing desk for another band later on.

The singer wasn’t a front man, he was quite shy and reserved. The trumpeter wasn't a very confident performer and always looking into the crowd and did a lot of swaying. It was a very high energy performance where each performer managed to show their personalities. I have never seen a more enthusiastic brass section before, who were interacting together so much.

Caulder

Caulder The Lending Rooms 31.05.19 The songs were extremely musically created. T he songs progressed through lots of layer, you were watching the texture build.  They were thoughtfully composed with build ups and drops. The tunes had a balance of being exposed as well as loud and expressive.  A memorable part was where the first half of the last song was played on acoustic guitar and recorded on a loop which was then played back in the second half, layering it with electric guitar and different drums. They were technically constructed and the phrases had dynamic range. There were some talented funky improvisations. The songs have a balance of being organised while DIY and experimental. Their set was varied, each song was quite different. They had such control over their sound. They were extremely in-sync, carrying out well coordinated stops in their songs. They could completely fill the room and created such a full sound out from 2 musicians.
